Goobye, Old Friend
Oct. 26th, 2006 11:07 pmI mentioned it in passing, but we are moving. Tomorrow. It's a positive thing. I need more room and privacy and my parents need less yard to tend and house clean. We found a gorgeous two story just 3 houses down from my brother's new house (which BTW is a castle. Literally. It looks live a Bavarian castle.)
We've lived in our current house for 37 years. I was 2 years old when we moved here. I really don't remember our house in Houston. This has been the only place that I've called home. Even the four years I lived in Austin during college, I still considered this home.
I do love the new house. I have Italian walnut floors in my bedroom and, hopefully, enough space for everything. I have an art studio and room to entertain.
I think it will really hit me when our old house sells. We aren't putting it on the market until next week. I will still have to come back and pack up lots of things. I haven't packed my books, fandom stuff, comics, and tons of art supplies. So it's not really goodbye yet. It will just be strange waking up on Friday morning in a place that's not quite home.
