a sign to stop drinking orange juice? I always said it was dangerous... so how'd it explode? Did you still the metal in the microwave thinking it'd be fine but only finding out too late that metal doesn't go in microwave and then the guys at Sears laughed at you and you had to run out of the store and get a new microwave at Best Buy because you can't go into Sears anymore? .... that might just be something that happens to me. Yeah, that's just me.
The can thawing out next to the sink, and when I went to put my dishes in the sink, I heard this loud POP, looked over, and the can was sitting there covered in orange pulp. It shot the lid across the counter. Cool.
A... sign? Sorry, it's just that I was a little surprised. BTW, someone in England has just told me that JMB is definitely not gay. I have a (English) friend in Brazil who (from watching the films, of all things) says he is. Since I myself have never believed in gaydars, I don't risk any hunches. I just wonder. Now for that can, again. Would it be a sign of something else if it had been another kind of juice?
Maybe it's a sign that I should switch to apple juice.
BTW, I met a woman online through an eBay auction who had lunch with John Moulder-Brown. I had completely forgotten about it, but I was going through old e-mail yesterday and found one from her. It was during the 1970's and she spent the summer in London. She wrote him a letter, he responded, and asked her out to lunch. He picked her up in his white Rolls Royce, took her to lunch, and then back to his place. She said he did proposition her, but she was engaged at the time. Of course, this is her word.
As for him being gay, who knows. He was married and had a child with his first wife, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I've never heard any rumors about it.
I'm shattered!! I used to have these ideas about myself as this sharp investigative person who knows how to unearth facts about people. Bullshit!! After years of Internet browsing (not to mention that famous Scarlet Street interview) and corresponding with people in England, all I had managed to get about JMB was a very meagre pack of scanty facts (although it must be said it's much more than what I've got about one of my other crazy obsessions, the American Indian --or should I say Native American-- actor Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, probably the most elusive person ever in show business).
Then, out of the blue, or rather, out of a can of frozen orange juice, there comes an abundance of information that I could never, not in my wildest dreams, imagine I wold one day get hold of. Gosh, you know more about this guy than what I know about myself!! I'm humiliated! I think I'm definitely going to call it quits with being a sharp investigative person. A white Rolls-Royce? Is there a meaning in that choice of color, you think? I wonder what color is Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse's car, if he drives one at all, that is. He rode a horse in Dances with Wolves, but it wasn't white.
Your friend's story sounds plausible to me. In the Scarlet Street interview, JMB mocks his own attempt, as a young man, at being "this suave, cool young man." The approach your friend described to you seems to be perfectly in accordance with that pattern.
I could never understand why elusive people fascinate me so much. I'm sure it would be infinitely easier to get inside information on the likes of Matt Damon or Richard Gere or one of those. But I'm not interested. I'm only interested in the JMB's and NLCHH's of this world. Weird!
Good to see your surgery is now a thing of the past.
ACK! Sorry it took me so long to respond, but your post go lost in my e-mail box.
It's weird, but I've been doing research on him for a long time, but it took an eBay auction to get any real information. The world is such a strange place, you never knew who you will run into online.
The last thing I found out about him was that he was the head of an acting school ACT in the UK.
I have always had a thing for obscure actors. Jason Hall from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (pictured with Seth Green in my icon) is one that is really hard to find.
Well, if I run across any new info on JMB, I'll pass it on.
