Even though I took some Valerian and Passion Flower, I can't sleep. I dozed a bit during Adult Swim which resulted in some really disturbing crossover dreams. (Mutant Family Guy/Futurama)

I don't know what to do. I wish we could get some decent projections on Rita's path. Right now, they are saying between Corpus Christi and Galveston which is so not helpful. That's like saying between Newark and Boston. Although I must admit, I snicker everytime I hear "Cone of Probability" mentioned.

I tried packing and I don't even know where to begin. Should I pack for a weekend or the end of the world? I really need to quit listening to Channel 2 (aka Apocalypse Now!! Channel) before my head explodes.

I really need to move to Austin.

We have decided to wait until noon to make a decision about evacuating. At the moment, we are leaning toward staying. My boss called and gave us permission to stay in the library if things get too bad.

The main reason we wouldn't leave is that right now it's pretty near impossible. It is taking 3 hours to travel 20 miles which can burn about half a tank of gas. Very few of the gas stations have gas so even though we all have full tanks, you can't travel to safety on a full tank of gas. And we have economy cars! I don't know what the SUV drivers are going to do.

I will try to stay online as long as possible, but if I'm knocked off (Dude, I almost wrote 'knocked up'), keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Better yet, write me some Oz/Devon so I will have something to read when I get back online!

After much debate, we have decided to stay at home or the library for the duration of the storm. My branch manager called to let me know that it was okay for us to seek shelter in the library if we needed to get away from home. The library is only 5 miles from my house so we will watch the weather and decided when we need to head over there.

This morning, we realized evacuation is pretty near impossible even with a full tank of gas. On the major freeways is taking people 6 hours to travel 30 miles. My brother and his family left for Austin this morning at 10 a.m. and they reached Huntsville (60 miles away) at 3 p.m. He managed to make such good time by taking back roads. We haven't heard from them so they haven't arrived in Austin yet (it's 150 miles from their home). Our neighbor tried to leave and after spending an hour and a half, he turned around and came back. He had only travelled 5 miles.

Dude, there was even a traffic jam in front of our subdivision. When Huffman has a traffic jam, you know the shit is about to hit the fan.

In good news, Chocolate Mint Jello Pudding is the BEST THING EVER. It tastes like Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. Plus if you make it with skim milk, it's virtually fat free.
