Intercourse in the Parking Lot
Sep. 11th, 2007 10:30 pmBeth asked me to accompany her as backup just in case there was a problem and she needed a witness. The minute we walked out the front door, we could see a man's head in the back window of a car go up and then down several times. When she knocked the back window, he did manage to roll down the window and tell us that nothing was happening. Yeah, right. You were just discussing the ramifications of recent Iraq report. Or Sartre. Lying down in the backseat of a car. While you were doing push ups. With a girl underneath you. That's okay. He was dressed so at least we didn't have to look at his naked ass. Beth told him that his behavior was inappropriate and he needed to discontinue it or leave.
As we walked away, they sat up and started to dress. In a few minutes, they were gone and we were left with our incident report and this story.

Last night, I was in Target doing some shopping when I come across these really cool chairs that would be great for my living area. They match my furniture and even though they are low to the ground, I thought they would be perfect when Hillary comes over to play video games. They were far more chic than those video rockers. So I thought I should try one out. NOT A GOOD IDEA. They are about 4 inches off the ground. Picture me trying to lower myself so I can sit on one. The moment my ass touched the chair, the chair shot out from under me like the Flash on speed. I hit the floor. Hard. And I landed flat on my stupid ass. No one was around, but I'm sure the people monitoring the security video had a good laugh.
Oddly enough, I wasn't sore today. My wrist hurts but that could just be carpal tunnel from my job.
So today's lesson children is don't even think about trying to sit on furniture that is 1/100th of your body weight and 4 inches tall. It only leads to a buttache and a possible spot on America's Funniest Surveillance Videos.

2 More Days!
Aug. 21st, 2007 11:01 pmTechnically, summer reading was over on Saturday (when I worked from 8:30am to 9pm) but in 2 more days, I will have an 11 day vacation (except for a YA meeting on Friday and Club Anime on the 30th)!!! 11 days without work! 11 days without dealing with insane customers! 11 days all to myself!
I have tons of comments to answer plus lots of wonderful fic to read. I'm bouncing around like Tigger on crack at the thought of having time to devote to fandom and books and writing. I might actually take one whole day just to write and spam my journals with stories.
I have so many things to say, but I need to get to sleep. 2 more days!
I just realized that next Tuesday, I will be 40. I don't know what that means yet. I've never been hung up on age, but this seems like a milestone. I feel like I should do something symbolic. Any ideas?
BTW, I had my hair bobbed. I'm ranting and incoherent. I need some sleep.
Dear Local News Reporters,
Aug. 18th, 2007 07:48 amI know you get all tingly in your naughty bits when possible disaster looms. I know you picture yourself as the next Dan Rather braving your Hurricane Carla. I know that the idea of an evacuation has you ready to spring in to action. BUT could you please dial it down a notch. Just from 11 to 10.
Thank you,
Darla
P.S. And the next time the terrorist threat is raised, could you please not go on and on about the importance of the Port of Houston. Even though it is a possible target, I think the terrorists have more lucrative targets in mind.
P.P.S. Channel 11---please don't send Shern-Min Chow out in the middle of the storm. I love her dearly, but some day, she is going to blow away. Plus, she looks like a child playing dress up when you put her in that ridiculously oversized yellow rain slicker and matching hat.
Wait a Minute There, Numfar!
Aug. 17th, 2007 11:06 pmOf course, part of my cavalier attitude comes from the fact that my mother's side of the family survived the 1900 Galveston storm. Okay, just barely but they made it; otherwise, I wouldn't be here today.
If it heads toward us, I will take it seriously but right now, I'm not about to start packing the car and heading north.
One More Day!
Aug. 17th, 2007 11:03 pmI have one more day of Summer Reading ahead of me and I WILL BE FREE! Of course, it's a 12 1/2 hour day, but at 9pm tomorrow night, SRP 2007 will be complete. I have to do my stats and starting August 24th, I will have 11 days of vacation (with the exception of a YA meeting and anime club). I won't know what to do with myself.
Tomorrow, my Scenes and Screens group will perform the play I've written (with yet another cameo from the Ghost of Bruce Lee) and then from 5:30pm to 9:00pm, we have Video Game Jam. Then I'm finished! I will return to the world of the living.
Numfar--prepare to do the dance of joy!
Where Am I?/Inca Mummy Girl Anniversary/40
Aug. 5th, 2007 09:23 pmSo I'm not dealing with this whole LJ thing until summer reading is over on August 18th. After that date, I will have my life back and will be able to think again. Right now, I am busy writing a play/puppet show that is due tomorrow. Then I have a podcast to edit and three videos to code so they can be sent to the editor.
I have created mirror journals at JournalFen, Insane Journal, and Greatest Journal so please friend me. I am eccentrici on all of them. I'm not jumping ship, just covering bases for now.
I have also created a Devonluv asylum on Insane Journal. Friend it!
In the same vein, I was thinking. October 6, 2007 is the 10th anniversary of "Inca Mummy Girl" which introduced the world to Oz, Devon, and Jonathan. I think fic might be in order for this occasion. Would anyone be willing to contribute?
I am thinking of doing a mini-NaNoWriMo at the end of August because I will be taking 11 days of vacation time to celebrate my 40th birthday. I want to get everything rounded up so I can spend my 11 days just having fun and doing anything I want. I have until August 24th to clear my calendar.
Back to writing the play. This year, the ghost of Bruce Lee is getting another cameo appearance.
Pay It Forward

PIF meme: I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet, but you will receive it within 365 days. The only thing you have to do in return is “pay it forward” by making a similar agreement on your blog.
If you don't want to make something you can offer to write fic, create videos, etc.
Also if you don't want to receive something handcrafted, you can have Oz/Devon fic. If you want both, you can ask for both.
If you want something handcrafted, I need to know your favorite colors, least favorite colors, allergies (wool, fibers, etc.), and five facts about you.
Poop! There It Is!
Jul. 30th, 2007 10:30 amI have to make this short because I'm at work. I should have posted this on Friday, but since the people have returned today, I thought I needed to post it now.
We have a "mother's of twins" (aka MOT) group that uses our meeting room for an infant/toddler playgroup. I've never had a problem with them. They tend to be noisy, but they clean up after themselves.
On Friday, I did the Mother Goose Infant Lapsit program because Christine and Susan weren't there. I didn't have much time to clean up and left most of my stuff to clean up later. Around 4pm, I heard people entering the meeting room and realized that the MOT group had booked the room (and I hadn't been told). I ran in and started packing up my stuff.
I noticed someone bring in a potty chair, but didn't think anything about it. That is until a kid pulled down her pants and proceeded to take a big, stinky dump in it! IN FRONT OF EVERYONE! WITH THE MEETING ROOM DOOR OPEN! I packed up as fast as I can and got out of there.
I told my Branch Manager, but she didn't have a problem with it as long as they cleaned up the meeting room.
Today, they are back. And so is the potty chair. AND THIS TIME THEY PUT IT IN THE FOYER OUTSIDE THE MEETING ROOM! Dude, that's just not right.
I know I'm not a parent so I might be missing something, but DUDE! Unless you are preparing your children for life in prison, they shouldn't have to poop in public.
I told Beth that maybe next session they will move it into the library proper. That would be a treat.
Jason Hall Update
Jul. 26th, 2007 01:24 amHe's one of the Variety's 10 Screenwriter's To Watch along with Danny Strong (Immi will love this!) and you can read about it here. DUDE! He wrote a biopic about Rodney on the ROQ. ::wibble::: Dude!
Technical Help Needed!
Jul. 14th, 2007 12:04 amHi gang! Does anyone have a rec for software to convert .mov files to .mpeg? I have some Mentos/Diet Coke videos from my Weird Science program that I need to edit and get up on YouTube. The kids are counting on me. Windows Movie Maker doesn't like .mov files.
BTW, I have been posting in my library journal (

I can't wait for 9pm on August 18th. That will officially be the end of Summer Reading Program for me. At least for this year.
